Emily Beecham is a British-American actress from Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester who is celebrated for her dynamic performances across film and television.

A 2006 graduate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art, Emily made an impressive entrance into acting with early appearances in Bon Voyage (2006) and the supernatural series Afterlife (2006). Her breakthrough came in 2009 with the indie feature The Calling (2009), earning her the Trailblazer Award at the Edinburgh International Film Festival.

She continued building her résumé with roles in genre favorites such as 29 Weeks Later (2007), Basement (2010), and a supporting turn in the Coen Brothers’ comedy Hail, Caesar! (2016). In 2017, Emily starred in Daphne (2017), earning nominations for Most Promising Performer at the British Indepent Film Awards and Evening Standard Awards.

Her most acclaimed role came in 2019’s Little Joe, when she won Best Actress at the Cannes Film Festival for her chilling, nuanced portrayal of a geneticist and single mother caught in a botanical mystery.

Some of her more recent highlights include roles in high-profile projects such as Disney’s Cruella (2021), the sci-fi thriller Outside the Wire (2021), and Guy Ritchie’s action drama The Covenant (2023) — demonstrating her versatility across genres. On television, she has shined in The Village, the martial-arts drama Into the Badlands (2015-2019), and the miniseries The Pursuit of Love (2021). She also appeared as Maura Franklin in Netflix’s mystery series 1899 (2022) and stars as Edith in the upcoming King and Conqueror. In the theatrical film My Mother’s Wedding (2025) she stars alongside Scarlett Johansson and Kristin Scott Thomas.
