Zahara has been introducing herself without the Pitt surname for years. Now, the change is official.
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s eldest daughter, 21, received court approval on Monday, September 28, to change her name from Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt to Zahara Marley Jolie. According to court records reported by PEOPLE, the petition was approved without objections.
She is the third of the former couple’s six children to legally drop Pitt from her name, following Shiloh and Maddox. Their younger sister Vivienne has also filed to make the change.
For Zahara, the name is already familiar. In 2023, she introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie when joining the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority at Spelman College. It was also the name read out when she crossed the stage at her graduation in May, although USA TODAY reports that the commencement program still listed her as Jolie-Pitt.
Her older brother Maddox, 25, had his name change approved just two weeks earlier, on September 14. His legal name is now Maddox Chivan Jolie. Shiloh, 20, was the first sibling to take the legal step. She filed on her 18th birthday in May 2024, with a judge approving the request that August.
Vivienne also filed on her 18th birthday this past July. Her hearing is scheduled for November 2. She had previously used Vivienne Jolie in the Playbill for the Broadway production of The Outsiders, which she worked on alongside her mother.
Pitt and Jolie separated in 2016 and finalized their divorce in December 2024. They also share sons Pax, 22, and Knox, 18.
