Animated film Hoppers debuts at top of weekend box office

Top movies at weekend box office March 8The new animated Walt Disney film Hoppers debuted in first place at the box office this weekend. About a girl who's able to hop into a beaver and communicate with animals, the film took in $46 million.

Scream 7 starring Neve Campbell dropped a spot to second place, earning in an additional $17.3 million for a two-week total of $93.4 million.

The Bride!, about Frankenstein's creation looking for female companionship, starring Christian Bale, Annette Bening, and Jessie Buckley, debuted in third place with $7.3 million.

Dropping two spots, the animated film GOAT about a small goat with big athletic dreams landed in fourth place, earning another $6.6 million for a four-week total of $83.8 million.

Rounding out the top five was Wuthering Heights starring Jacob Elordi as Heathcliffe and Margot Robbie as Catherine, loosely based on the book by Emily Brontë, taking in $3.8 million more for a four-week total of $78.8 million.
