Actress and singer Halle Bailey has obtained a restraining order from a Los Angeles judge against her ex-boyfriend, rapper DDG, whose real name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr. The two have a 17-month-old son named Halo.
The restraining order requires Granberry to stay away from Halle, 25, and Halo until a hearing on June 6, 2025. Additionally, he has been prohibited from possessing weapons.
In the documents filed for the order, Bailey stated, "Throughout our relationship, Darryl has been and continues to be physically, verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive towards me. I am seeking orders to protect myself and our son Halo from his ongoing abuse."
Bailey, who portrayed Ariel in the 2023 live-action Disney movie The Little Mermaid, reported that since she split from Granberry last October, there have been "multiple acts of physical violence."
The court documents detail an incident that took place last January, when Granberry verbally insulted her as she strapped the baby into his car seat. Granberry then slammed her head into the steering wheel, resulting in a chipped tooth. Photos of her injuries were included in the filing.
Additional claims include Granberry entering her home without permission to take a photo of her bed, which he then sent to her via text, while accusing her of infidelity. She also recounted an incident when he verbally abused her when he came to pick up Halo, who was too sick for a visit.
Upon realizing their exchange was being recorded by the Ring camera on the porch, he smashed the device. When Bailey attempted to call a relative for help, he took her phone and got into his car, slamming the door on her as she followed, holding the baby.
Bailey, who has also starred in The Color Purple (2024) and The Line (2023), is currently working on an untitled musical comedy film directed and written by Jesse Eisenberg. ~Alexandra Heilbron
