Two new films landed in the Top 5 at the weekend box office, but neither was able to overtake last weekend's champion, Disney's Lilo & Stitch, a live-action reimagining of Disney's 2002 popular animated classic. It took in an extra $63 million for a two-week total of $280 million.
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning starring Tom Cruise remained in second, adding an additional $27.3 million for a two-week total of $122.6 million. Click here to read our review.
Karate Kid: Legends starring Jackie Chan and Ralph Macchio debuted in third, earning $21 million.
The horror film Final Destination: Bloodlines dropped to fourth place, taking in an extra $10.8 million for a three-week total of $111.7 million.
Rounding out the top five was the horror movie Bring Her Back starring Sally Hawkins. It debuted with $7 million in earnings.
