Who says Europeans are more open about nudity? A billboard featured Oscar-nominated actress Julianne Moore reclining on a divan, naked but tastefully covered by a black and gold handbag and two lion cubs, has been deemed inappropriate in Venice.
The city’s recently elected mayor, Giorgio Orsoni, told papers: “An advertisement showing a nude woman on a divan is not appropriate for St Mark’s Square.” The billboard is an advertisement for Bulgari handbags.
There was no such outcry last March when a similar ad featuring Moore nude with a handbag and two cockatoos was placed above the Bulgari store on Fifth Avenue in New York.
WTF?
Looks pretty tasteful IMO. Much more so than most Peta ads.
people dont have to be naked to sell things or get their point across. shes clearly made some "poor decisions" in life. how is it people think its ok for adults to pose nude for handbags and peta, but its not ok for a young girl to dress how she wants, while still covering her privates? or dance up against someone while clothed? its tasteful to be nude for handbags, but not tasteful to dress showing your arms, legs, stomach and back? what is the world coming to when a youth is deemed a "slut" based on what she chooses to wear, but an adult deemed "pretty tasteful" when they choose to be nude?
WTF indeed. At least the handbag is in the forefront and in the picture! Some ads you guess it's all about sex then turns out it's about the paid of jeans so far int he background there was no way to 'Guess' that!!! I think this is fairly tasteful and grabs your attention. I'm sure there's some artsy reasoning behind the birds, and wearing nothing but a handbag but I certainly see not reason to find it offensive. Meh, to each their own. Maybe in Europe they weren't happy with an American actress taking a job away from one of their capable models in Europe???? lol.
