Netflix has released an early first-look at its upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series.

In a clip shared on social media, Scooby-Doo is seen sprinting through the woods near a summer camp before running into Shaggy Rogers, setting up the duo’s origin story as they become fast friends and future mystery-solving partners. The footage also gives fans an early glimpse at the series’ tone and reimagined world.

One detail from the clip quickly caught attention online: Scooby’s loook. Many viewers noted that he appears closer to a chocolate Labrador in build and coloring, sparking confusion and debate about the creative direction. However, the dog cast is actually a Great Dane without cropped ears, which explains the different look.

As previously announced, the Mystery Inc. lineup will include Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, Tanner Buchanan as Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake. Paul Walter Hauser is also set to appear in a yet-to-be-revealed role.

The series is described as a modern reimagining of the classic cartoon. Set during their final summer at camp, Shaggy and Daphne become entangled in a disturbing mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder. They are soon joined by Velma, a sharp-minded local student, and Freddy, a charismatic newcomer, as the group is pulled into a case that unravels a web of secrets and eerie events.

Officially titled Scooby-Doo: Origins, the series is currently filming in Atlanta and is expected to premiere in 2027.
