Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the latest installment in Marvel and Sony's Spider-Man franchise starring Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jacob Balaton, debuted in the top spot this weekend, taking in a whopping $355 million.
Last week's top finisher, The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan's adaptation of Homer's epic poem starring Matt Damon, Tom Holland and Anne Hathaway, dropped to second place, earning another $51 million for a three-week total of $395.5 million.
Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 5, featuring the voices of Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Joan Cusack, remained in third place, taking in another $6.3 million for a seven-week total of $461.6 million.
Universal's Minions & Monsters held onto fourth place, bringing in another $5.8 million for a five-week total of $168.3 million.
Rounding out the top five was Disney's live-action Moana, starring Catherine Laga'aia and Dwayne Johnson, earning another $5.3 million for a four-week total of $114.7 million. ~Chidera Arimah
