Greta Lee was born in Los Angeles, California to South Korean immigrant parents. She studied theater at Northwestern University, gaining formal training before moving to New York City to begin her professional career.
Greta made her acting debut in 2006 with a television appearance on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Shortly after, she expanded into stage work, making her Broadway debut in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, marking her entry into professional theater.
Her career grew steadily across television, film, and stage. She appeared in recurring and guest roles in series such as Girls, High Maintenance, and The Good Fight, while also working in films like Sisters and Money Monster.
She later gained wider recognition for standout performances in Russian Doll, The Morning Show, and the film Past Lives, which brought her critical acclaim and major award nominations. In 2026, she voiced the new character Lilypad in Pixar’s Toy Story 5 and appeared in the Netflix movie The Last House.
Greta is married to actor and writer Russ Armstrong. They have two sons.
