Born: November 06, 1988
Mamadou Athie was born in Mauritania. His father worked as a diplomat, and when Mamadou was six months old, the family received political asylum in the United States. From an early age, Mamadou developed a strong interest in the arts and later earned a Master of Fine Arts from the Yale School of Drama in 2014.
Mamadou began his professional career in theatre, appearing off-Broadway in The Mystery of Love in 2015. He soon transitioned to television with roles in The Get Down (2016–2017), The Detour (2017), Sorry for Your Loss (2018–2019), and the anthology series Cake (2019).
In 2020, he secured his first leading roles in feature films with Uncorked and Black Box. He later headlined the Netflix horror series Archive 81 (2022) and voiced Wade Ripple in Pixar’s 2023 animated film Elemental.
In 2026 he appeared alongside Zendaya and Robert Pattinson in The Drama.
