Worst movie I saw all year. I couldn't wait for it to be over. Who writes a script with a protagonist that audiences will hate? We need someone to root for. I couldn't wait for this little creep to get what was coming to him. I guess Chalamet got the part because he's arrogant in real life, he basically got to play himself.

While I thought Timothée Chalamet did a good job in the role, the movie was just all over the place.. went in too many directions and just became not very believable. Would like to see that young actor in other things; I think he has potential. The movie itself wasn't great, but could have been so much better if they just stayed with the main story line.

Why wasn’t this nominated for best movie best actor best supporting actor? This and Nuremberg are the very best movies of 2025 hands down and I am a very tough critic.

If I'd not thought might fall walking down unfamiliar stairs, I would have left after the first hour. Marty supreme was really Marty the grifter time after time after time. Surely there must have been a more screen-worthy story to tell.

In Marty, Timothée Chalamet embodies a young man shaped by the harsh rhythms of 1950s New York—a city where ambition and desperation often blur. Marty hustles with frenetic determination, using his intelligence and manipulative streak to chase an unlikely dream: competing for the table-tennis World Title. His worldview is forged by an environment that rewards toughness and punishes vulnerability. The film shines as a period drama, with evocative cinematography and a cast that brings real emotional texture. Gwyneth Paltrow plays her role with a quiet, aching sadness, while Kevin O’Leary delivers a chilling performance as her cold, domineering husband. Though the film lingers a bit longer than necessary, it remains a compelling and beautifully crafted piece of American independent cinema.

It took me a while to write this review, well , staters , lets make Tim look really bad , his looks will get in the way . Gressy hair , fake pox marks ,always sweating , the only thing missing is stink lines . I get it Travis Biks from Taxi driver meets an edgey Woody Allan.. His go to sex move is from behind ,standing up , odd. Think low rent Mad Mad Mad World, with out a moral compass.Sorry wanted to get on board , Oscar??? The redemtion ark felt forced .

The best movie.

Ugh! is all I can say. The lead actor had to learn a lot of lines that’s for sure but it tells you something if the best part of the movie is seeing Shark Tank’s Mr. Wonderful Kevin O’Leary looking, as we had all expected, that he isn’t so wonderful afterall. If the main character had been a female, they would’ve stopped at nothing to cover up the severe poc marks on his face.

Whenever people hate a movie, I love it. I love this movie.

Seems they wanted to pack an intense storyline change in about every 5 minutes... exaggeration but that's the idea of it.

This movie didn’t have much of a plot. I found it very irritating, the main character was constantly running around doing all kinds of crazy stuff. Then it just got weirder at the end with the last ping pong game….

Flawless. Outstanding on every level: excellent cast, script, acting, drama. Very exciting with complex character studies, character relationships. Exciting, touching & spellbinding storytelling!

I liked the movie even if there wasn't a single likeable character in the film. The pace is frenetic. The first song(Forever Young) and the last song(a Tears for Fears tune) came out at least 30 years after the time that the movie was set in. But the actors were fine. Some terrific. A long movie, but it goes by fairly quickly. Worth seeing. Better than most of the crap coming out of Hollywood these days.

With very tight shots, constant frenetic pace and very loud soundtrack sometimes overtaking dialogue, I had a hard time watching without feeling some motion sickness. I had to leave 3/4 through and the characters felt very one dimensional.

They do a good job of portraying a human with the worst behavior in most any situation. A very stress-inducing movie. Table tennis rallies not very exciting. (His antics include selfishness, immorality, animal cruelty, disrespect, adulterous) No exciting scenes to speak of.

People think you need at least one character to empathize with. If people want to live in a fantasy world, then they are pretty unaware how our world works in 2026. It is as ugly and depressing, just like this movie.

I like Timothee Chamalet as an actor. But this movie was a huge disappointment. There absolutely no characters that you could empathize with or even root for because they were literally all terrible people. This movie ends up being a “day in the life” movie sort of film in which you end up not caring what happens to any of the characters. A waste of 2.5 hours.
