A very forgetable movie. The kind of movie you would not watch again. I went to see it for pure curiosity and I just was disapointed... It is a movie for children and young teenagers. It lacks intelligence... Simple, dull, embarrising. It humiliates the real image of Superman...
best Superman yet!! If you wanna laugh check out the Snyder bro bad reviews don’t listen it’s so good!
There were many likable characters: Jimmy, the Dog, Mr. Terrific, the man who can create kryptonite, and Superman. Sometimes it goes over the top - like the huge monster, and Superman not being able to get out of the proton river, etc. Not perfect, but highly enjoyable!
This is a Superman who will rescue everyone! Superman lives up to his name. If you ever wondered what would happen to a good person who ended up with unfettered power, this movie is a feel-good answer. Simply put, the acting is great. The pacing doesn't miss a beat, and the feel-good moments don't take away from the gravity of the plot. Special props to the villains in this piece, who sparked out and were not only believable but a little too relatable. Worth the money and the evening out.
This Superman 2025 pile of crap ranks up there as the worst movie of all time with too many characters which are a miscast (look at Green Lantern, overweight terrible haircut), ( Hawkgirl , completely unimpressive) (The only character I liked in this movie was Mr Terrific who actually upstaged Superman the main superhero). James Gunn reduced Superman to a little wimp getting beaten up throughout the movie completely weakening his character displaying him as an emotional mess as opposed to the calm composed stoic, confident, unstoppable god-like Superman we watched throughout the decades going back from Henry Cavill, Brandon Routh, Christopher Reeve, George Reeves of the 1950's and before that. There's no cohesion to the storyline as it jumps from one scene to the next without explaining anything turning this movie to nothing more than a parody and mockery of Superman and an embarrassment and disgrace to the legacy of one of America's favorite superheroes especially Christopher Reeve who is probably rolling over in his grave right now with the with the release of this fake wannabe Superman. This is positively the worst Superman of all time ranking it with a 0.5 out of 10 and easily one of the worst movies of all time which has no business being in the movie Theaters. It has completely degraded and demasculated my favorite Superhero to nothing more than a wimp with serious emotional issues. In one scene Superman starts screaming like a sissy ("Ouch, Ouch, Stop") after Krypto the dog nips at his feet. What the Hell?? You're supposed to be SUPERMAN. Furthermore, James Gunn has vilified Superman's parents. What kind of a sick mind would distort the original Superman canon of Jor-El and
Do not watch this !
This was my favorite version of Superman since the animated series. Lots of heart, great performances from the entire cast of actors.
I saw it with my son. He is 19, and the older he gets, the harder it is for us to connect on things. This movie was well enjoyed by the both of us. It had a lot of action, and the visual and sound effects were great. The best part for me, as a father, was the end scene, with the song I am a punk rocker. It reminded me of my youth, and instantly I felt a stronger bond with my son. It is a great movie, and even a better family movie. Super highly recommended from me.
Loved the special effects!
Tried to do way too much. You don't need 5 different story lines and some unnecessary characters. I am loyal to christopher reeve, and just adore his first two superman movies. That being said, i went to this because my wife wanted to see it. I liked the way it started out, and actually liked the new auperman, but then ot went into story overload. Luther was very good, after his nice, but small role in the beekeeper movie. Lois' voice actually sounded like margot kidder, so that was cool. One or two of superman's wishes (like saving a huge, bad monster) were stupid. The dog was dumb, at least make him a good dog instead of a "bad" dog. I wanted noem to shoot him. Political analogies throughout, which will bother some people, and it bothered me a little, but i liked the ukraine reference and how we should do/have done more to atop disgusting putin
Best Superman movie
Why after all this time, did they decide to make Superman "less than"??? He needs help fighting the bad guys. His name is Superman for a reason.. or it use to be. Woke writers? Don't waste your time and money.
Unless you're a teenager that plays video games all day, forget this mess of a movie. Unwatchable for anyone with any discernment.
A joy of a superman/ Clark Kent movie. It exceeded my expectations (which were high). The plot had very fast paced action that matched comic book style but also contrasted with sudden quiet, beautiful moments. I laughed and cried. Not perfect, but hopeful. From the opening scene and onward the audience learns that Superman is not indestructible or un-relatable. He experiences pain and struggle, but has a classic hopeful indomitable spirit.
Weak story line, hard to watch at times not very memorable, very poor cast selection. Lex was the biggest wine baby!
I loved the look and feel that pulled me into a comic world completely. The action was great. Superman, Lois, and Luther were spot on. Mr Terrific was well terrific. I loved that Lois got sucked into some action and was very important in how everything worked out. The Kents were a real sweet spot. James Gun knows how to take a weird fantastical fantasy world and give it heart, so you care. Best Superman ever.
Not quite even close to other super man movies, but entertaining if you don’t compare it to others. Too many side plots, Lois was good, the dog was fake looking.
If you support the sweeping changes Donald Trump is bringing to American democracy you will find this movie not only disappointing but downright offensive.
Super dog is the best and cutest animated character and it made it fun to watch, unfortunately for the music was not for me, Too many goofy characters and little plots here and there it as too much and all over the place at the same time, it was definitely for younger audiences or those who do not care about plot or "step by step" directional sort of thing. I must add that Nicholas Hault did a phenomenal act as Lex Luthor, he fill those shoes and then some. I prefer the 3 previous movies.
Painfully bad. Everyone I saw it with hated it.
Really funny dialogue and GREAT supporting actors/actresses! Well done James Gunn 👏
Love that Superman is portrayed as having a personality and getting excited about stuff and having favorite food. Delightful man. I was so TIRED of Superman being an empty husk of “tortured alien who wants to help shitty humans” He’s some guy He wants to help He’s good :)
Shouldn't waste your money on it. Bad acting, bad movie hated it
I was never a big DC comics, or Superman fan growing up but the movies always had that charm. Little did I know how bad the world needed something wholesome and charming as Superman. This is the revival of that spirit of original Superman films. Even though this movie isn't perfect and made some odd choices. Its WAY better than anything Zack Snyder or DC has put out in the least 20 years. The only thing better or even comparable to this is Batman 1989 because its the best thing DC did all these years, and the original Superman films. I truly feel this movie is worth watching, in the big screen, and enjoy it for what it is. The only flaws are sups getting beat up too much, too many side characters stealing screen time, and a 8 act lot that didn't really have an act 1. You jump right in to something. And the suit could be a little tighter esp around the collar. The plot needs to go smaller in the future, fix the suit, make superman powerful and not abuse him so much, and reduce the multitude of side characters. If they did that it would be a perfect film. As is it is STILL the best on screen superman since the 1980s. Ps. This is about 43 times better than Fantastic Bore: Missteps
This movie is for mindless idiots. Not the superman for intelligent people
Overall fun to watch action movie from beginning to end
Done with woke Hollywood
Hollywood has zero creativity, no one has an honest or free thought any more, all driven by LGBTQ or politics. What a mess!
loved it,
I had high hopes but a far cry from the other Superman movies. It had very much a Marvel feel to it and its almost as if Gunn is out to ruin DC as well. Sorry people, don't hate me, but this reboot should be booted to the curb.
I like James Gunn movies, but he is definitely starting to repeat himself. Examples: team of misfits who sort of work well together. In GOTG2 remember the golden people Rocket stole the battery from? They chased the Guardians remotely and one by one their screens went black when their ships were blown up. In Superman, he is beaten up with the assist from drones which were viewed by Lex's team and one by one their screens went down. Or GOTG3 with the "bad dog" who, of course is cute and ultimately has powers which saves everyone. Superman has Krypto the "bad dog" who ultimately is a big help. There's some other things but those are the big ones. The best running joke is that all the women love Jimmy and he knows it and it bothers him ha ha. It's brighter, more upbeat and pretty decent. Let Batman movies be Snyder dark.
Made a review. 3/5. But apparently it changed on me to a 5/5.
Got to see Superman in IMAX form today. The acting was good, the script could’ve been better. Lots of special effects for the action lovers. It was better than I thought it would be. Who’d knew that the star would be a hyper dog. I’d give it a 6/10.
Best DC movie in years. Dc is back.
This version of Superman is a far cry from the heroic figure of the 1960s comics, featuring a superhero with a dad bod, wearing a distorted and a comical super suit. Instead of the man of steel it portrayed Superman as a weak and naive Kryptonian lacking the discernment, full powers and proud history of the original character. If I could give this movie a zero, I would. On top of that, it transformed Superman's Kryptonian parents into merciless villains, introduced Supergirl as his cousin late in the movie as an irresponsible, boozing brat, and portrayed Krypto the Super dog as an undisciplined, dim-witted mutt—all disappointing and unnecessary distortions. The production felt weak, the story uninspiring, and the ending entirely predictable. It came off as more a crossover between "I Robot", "Who’s line is it anyway" and "H.R. Pufnstuf" than a serious Superman film. Bring back the Man of Steel!
7 OUT 10. just ok.. the good mister terrfic as for me he steals the show, superman was good too as well as lex, the bad was the ending with sipergirl as they made look like she hair head that was disappointed, that plus Kent parents visuals, the ugly was the pocket dimension as those affects were bad and had weird things in it, but still enjoyed watching superman ,
Super fun! This loopy, light-hearted adventure feels like the true sequel to Superman III that we always wanted but never really got. There are echoes of Robert Vaughn's Ross Webster in Nicholas Hoult's portrayal of Lex Luthor, and Nathan Fillion's Guy Gardner is the film's wild card, a character as mysterious and every bit as nefarious as Richard Pryor's Gus Gorman from III. Superman, unfortunately, is rather wimpy this time out, his ill-fitting tights inspiring more hoots and hollers than a knowing respect for The Law when he appears. Lois Lane is under-utilized in this version but that's a good thing because the actress playing her is terrible. Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl more than compensates, however, as do the special effects and an effective use of product placement to complement the experience. The movie isn't perfect, but Superman fans have much to cheer about this summer. *** / *****
Some of the choices they made for shot composition took some time to get used to, but I enjoyed the characterization and story. Anyone complaining about "political messaging" has clearly never watched a movie before; all media is political, you just don't like what this movie is saying.
Back stories are powerful too.
Listen when I say I am not a Superman fan. But when my son insisted, we go I did solely for him. From the first scene I kid you not. I was interested. I mean it started with him after he lost his first battle. From there the whole 2 hours and 9 minutes I absolutely loved. The incredible cast, the story line absolutely brilliant.
superman was awesome
I've been a Superman fan for 60 years. James Gunn captured the essence of the kind, honest Superman. I loved it!
I solid start. Hopefully they will build on it.
MAGA lunatics crying about a movie because FOX News told them to. Best Superman movie, best flick this year
worst movie i have ever seen, what a shame it has put on superman, acting was bad, director, producer should never be associated with another movie.......
What utter horror was this movie. SUPERMAN is ruined for ever. Don't waste your time in seeing this trash
This was by far the worst rendition of Superman. Waste of $100 for tickets and concessions. It's not even worth renting.
The movie was choppy, and the effects were amateur. Waste of time.
Really 4 but I'm offsetting the triple 5 star vote. Superman is very handsome and I love his big heart, and his down-home folk parents. I enjoyed the movie, but did find myself saying under my breath, early on, "this is stupid". But it did get better and was entertaining. The dog actually saved Superman's hide a few times, as did his other superhero friends. Good mix of humor!
I loved everything about it
